Thoughts on Katrina Cont.
Virtuous Reality has been in specific prayer for the people associated with New Orleans Theological Seminary. The seminary was to be the site of our next Yada Yada event at the end of September. Our contacts there are safe, but the seminary has sustained much damage. http://www.nobts.edu/hurricane/donations.htm
God is no stranger to devastation. It seems that destruction is a common theme throughout the Old Testament from the plagues on Egypt to constant battles against the Israelites. Oftentimes, it is through devastation that God can show his power through rebuilding.
Take Nehemiah. His people, the Israelites, had been in captivity, away from their land, and had recently returned to Jerusalem. When Nehemiah heard about the devastation of the city wall, he did not linger, but asked for permission (he was the king’s cupbearer in another country, Susa) to leave and rebuild the city wall.
Through an amazing series of events, and divine intervention, Nehemiah led his countrymen to rebuild the wall despite many schemes to thwart the effort. The result was unmistakable.
6:15 (emphasis added)
The wall was completed in 53 days, on the twenty-fifth day of the month Ellul. When all our enemies heard this, all the surrounding nations were intimidated and lost their confidence, for they realized that this task had been accomplished by our God.
Oh, that God would be acknowledged somehow by the masses in our country. Pray that those entrenched in this recovery effort will share the love of Jesus and that His glory would shine through the darkness.
Only He is capable of eternal “repair.”
Special thanks to Broadman & Holman, my publisher, for donating 100 TeenVirtues and pink tote bags for evacuees in the Austin area. Join us in praying that God will use Teen Virtue as a witnessing tool for His Kingdom. http://www.broadmanholman.com/article.asp?article=47
